TLDR; STREET FOOTBALL AUSTRALIA launched its eagerly awaited X1 format. SSC VATRENI made a statement by taking out the tournament in a dominant display.
X1 is officially launched in Australia by STREET FOOTBALL AUSTRALIA.
WHAT'S X1?
X1 is a format of Street Football where each team has an outfield player and a goalkeeper. This allows for high intensity plays with major consequences for not taking your opportunities. The concept has been built upon the great work of X1 Brazil, sightly tweaking the ruleset to be built around Street Football.
THE TOURNAMENT
Set as a 6 team invitation only launch event, X1 October was a massive success. When launching a new format the first event tends to be all over the place a athletes find their footing, but X1 wasn't like that. It was sink or swim. SYDNEY STREET CREW chose this event to also launch their franchise system, splitting into SSC VATRENI, SSC EMPIRE, SSC KINGS, SSC DYNAMO, and SSC TECHNICA. This system by SSC has allowed their Street Footballers to have their own footing in this exciting new Sport, instead of locking it to a single keeper and outfield player, SSC can now field numerous teams, while still linking back to the overall Crew/Brand. X1 October had two groups of three teams, with a round robin, followed by knockout stages (semi final and final).
THE RESULTS
SSC VATRENI performed strongly both in goals and scoring goals, resulting in a great first place finish. In the process also taking home both Golden Boot and Golden Glove. SSC EMPIRE fought right until the end, taking the final down to a single last minute goal, while throughout the tournament being clinical in front of goal. SSC KINGS finished off the podium with a strong run of their own, having had a strong group stage performance and scoring in every game they played in. All 3 other clubs performed strongly. X1 is brutal in it's gameplay loop, it's either "take your chance", or the other player has a "one on one" with your keeper, it's that rough. The teams that finished higher up the rankings took their chances, that's the main difference.
