SSC VATRENI Makes it 3 from 3 in X1!
Winner Stays has returned as the format for the X1 April event. Featuring 3 new teams; SSC DINAMO, SSC RECON, & SSC TORCIDA. A dominant display saw SSC VATRENI take out the tournament, staking claim to the top place of the rankings.
CHANGES TO THE FORMAT
A major drawback and point of contention to our past iterations of X1 was the reliance and ultra importance on the strength of the goalkeeper you were given or self sourced. Everyone in small sided football knows that a great goalkeeper can win you matches even when you aren't performing your best, you could have one shot and one goal and still win after your keeper saved all ten of the opposition's shots. So a change was made, for this event we switched from personal keepers, to set keepers who stay in their goal for the entirety of the event, with only players switching out depending on results. Resulting in a much more fair system that switches the focus much more onto the one on one moments between the players. Overall this change was a major success.
THE RESULTS
1st: SSC VATRENI - 8 points
2nd: SSC RECON - 4 points
3rd: SSC VAYIKRA - 2 points
4th: SSC DINAMO- 1 point
5th: SSC TORCIDA - 0 points
The Rankings are beginning to take shape after the second event of the year. SSC VATRENI have solidified their place at the top on 5000 points. SSC VAYIKRA held firm in 2nd spot on 2500 after a 3rd place finish. SSC RECON have bolted onto the scene, immediately securing a 2nd place result, locking them into 3rd in the rankings with 1500 points. The 5th place finish from SSC TORCIDA has left the club sitting in 4th place on 1000 points. SSC KINGS have dropped down to 5th after being unable to participate. A 4th place result moved SSC DINAMO into 6th in the overall rankings with 750 Points. East Coast X1 dropped to 7th after not competing in this event.
