Why Sydney Street Crew Doesn't Use Social Media
Why waste time making a flashy photo or video when there's no infrastructure to support Street Football in the first place?
WHY SSC DON'T USE SOCIAL MEDIA
One of the most common mistakes people make when showing SSC to others is to suggest their Instagram page, this page has gone 5 years as of right now without a single update. Instead all you need to do is go to their website ssc.football, this is where you find all the information you need. From links to documentaries, their animated TV series, to information on their involvement in various Street Football formats, all the information on how they function, what they do, their goals, and how they alone power Australia's Street Football movement. This is more than enough information to have a deep understanding of SSC. For even more you can look to their contraband pages, honestly the depth is wild. The depth achieved here hints to a very important point as to why SYDNEY STREET CREW don't use social media, social media rewards surface level polish, not the dirty work that truly builds a sport. Worldwide in Street Football there is a push to "post, post, post", however SSC have broken that mold by instead building the infrastructure and ground base that Street Football needs in order to support future generations and even the current generation in the sport. SSC don't understand why waste your time only making flashy clips, when you could have hosted a tournament instead, why only worry about posting photos, when you can help build up the next crew in your city? There is an understanding of balance here, you can do both, howevere this tends to be the exception, 99% of Street Footballers only focus on social media, with no focus on infrastructure and scene growth. SSC believes in professionalism, leading the Australian Street Football scene/movement in a constructive and positive direction, and that is only possible with immense amounts of work, Street Football in Australia is alive because of SYDNEY STREET CREW.
HOW SSC MARKET THEMSELVES
You'd think by avoiding social media that SYDNEY STREET CREW would be a forgotten entity, but it's quite the opposite. 5 years ago when they were still active on social media, they were a decent team, with some presence in the scene, respectable, but not yet elite. However once SSC dropped the focus from social media and onto results, professionalism, and Street Footballs growth not only in Australia but globally, they exploded into relevancy. Due to the hard work on the ground building, SYDNEY STREET CREW have grown into world beaters. Regularly placing in high positions in Australia's National Futsal League (AFA Affiliated League), travelling to World Cups for 3v3 and 7v7 representing themselves and their country, playing literal professional Futsal in Colombia.... you can see the picture can't you. Their reputation is their marketing. Results like these are almost impossible to replicate, which is still to this day the strongest form of marketing. On top of all of this SYDNEY STREET CREW are the founding fathers of STREET FOOTBALL AUSTRALIA, CONTRABAND, and STREETBALL. They do what they preach. They don't use socials, they just make it happen. When you build a scene from the ground up, when you help Street Footballers by giving them a platform, you're remembered much more by those who actually matter, not to numbers on a screen. SSC seem to understand this much more than most. Their documentaries are the glimpse the scene needs in order to understand the pathway, they acta as a way finder for now and established teams to follow, not glamorous but real. SSC is far more successful without socials than they ever were with it.
RESULTS DON'T LIE
As stated above SYDNEY STREET CREW have some truly amazing results and have competed in some of the worlds largest football events. But that's not their best achievement. All you have to do is go onto Street Football Australia or even our own website Contraband, and you'll see an infrastructure for Street Football that is World Leading, which has been built by SYDNEY STREET CREW. So while playing and leading Australia on the court, they have grown the entire Australian scene off their back behind the scenes. SSC has built Australia's Street Football movement, and they continue to make it better every day. Social media doesn't give you that and SYDNEY STREET CREW knows it.
WHY THIS APPROACH IS BETTER
This is the simplest part. You get a scene built from the ground up by professionals who have the experience and expertise to do it. SYDNEY STREET CREW are not only Australia's best Street Football team, they're also the one's carrying the entire movement. Therefore by not posting on social media (Instagram, Facebook, etc), SSC are giving their entire focus onto growing the sport; they benefit, and so do all Street Footballers especially those in Australia.
If you ever lookup or share SYDNEY STREET CREW use their website, not social media.
